German Oceanographic Museum

Historic House Museum

As one of the branches of the Museum of Cultural History this former merchant’s house, located on Moenchstrasse 38 and built in the style of Late Gothic, offers its guests more than 600 hundred years of architectural history, Gothic paintings and pieces of historic furniture.

Marine Museum

Known as the “Cradle of the Prussian Navy” the island of Daenholm - situated right between the Isle of Ruegen and Stralsund - has been strategically important for military actions since the Middle Ages. Museum of Cultural History

This museum is home to plenty of artefacts witnessing the former living conditions and Stralsund’s change from being a small fisher village to becoming one of the most powerful Hanseatic towns. Among the highlights are the famous “Hiddenseer Goldschatz” - a 16 pieces set of jewels crafted by the Vikings, valuable vestments and the Peenemünder Treasure.

The Nautineum offers lots of information on fishing methods, oceanography, hydrography and waterways. Apart from open-air exhibitions and a children’s playground, you can go aboard the several docked ships and explore “Helgoland”, an original underwater laboratory.

Old Warehouse Museum

Located on Boettcherstrasse 23 this museum offers its visitors facts about folk culture in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. A wood turner’s shop and smith shop will be expecting you. Furthermore, items of coastal lifestyle from the 19th/20th century are on display. The old warehouse building is also home to a charming toy museum.

Ozeaneum

Enjoy extensive tours through the underwater world of the Northern Sea and get to know Stralsund’s port basin’s sea dwellers. Younger guests will love the “Children’s Sea” - a hands-on section full of games and fun. And if you ever wanted to meet a 26 metres long blue wale true-to-life replica, “Giants of the Sea”, located at the very end of your tour, is the place to be!
